Bears second round pick, OT Teven Jenkins, is undergoing back surgery today, meaning he will miss most if not all of the season. The earliest he could return is in November. Jenkins was drafted to be the Bears starting left tackle, but a lingering back issue has kept him out of training camp and the first preseason clash. This eventually led to the signing of veteran OT Jason Peters, as he is expected to fill the gap while Jenkins recovers.
In other news, the Bears have waived WRs Justin Hardy and Jester Weah, DBs Michael Joseph and Deonte Ruffin, LB Ledarius Mack, and OL Gage Cervanka.
One year has passed since the founding of this website. I honestly cannot believe it has been that long since I started this. Before I begin with what I want to say, I would like to thank you guys for your support over this last year. Honestly, it isn't really like me to get an idea for something and make it a long term goal. That was until I founded this site. I found this passion in writing about the Bears, and now I have my final answer as to what I want to be when I grow up.
Alright let's get into some of the major announcements. The first is that I am redesigning my website. I will still have the same domain and GoDaddy, it will just look a little different and be easier to navigate. That will take a while to make. The second announcement will be out later tonight. I am starting a podcast with Instagram user @superbowl_shufflers. This podcast will be found on Anchor, Spotify, and maybe more. But that starts today on this one year anniversary. Lastly, if I haven't posted about it yet on here, I will not be updating on Halloween because I am going to the game against the Niners. So I'll be there live, and I might actually go live on Instagram, so follow me over there. Again, thank you so much for supporting me for the last year. I appreciate all of you very much.
The three players all joined the Pro Football Focus 90 Club this past week following good performances against the Bengals. Dalton might be a little bloated because of his injury exit in the second quarter. JJ was REALLY good this past week, with multiple pass breakups and recording his first career interception (which I predicted on IG in May) in this game. Roquan got there for obvious reasons, a sack and a pick six which were crucial in the end to our victory. Also up there was Jason Peters, who had a good bounce back and posted a 78 grade. Darnell Mooney rounded out the offense top 3 with a 72.2 grade. Bilal Nichols posted an 80.8 grade. Remember, Nichols broke a no-90 Club streak last year with a breakout against the Lions. Lets hope he gets back to that form and makes the Pro Bowl this year.
The bottom three on offense went to:
Cole Kmet-46.9
Sam Mustipher-47
Jimmy Graham-47.8
The bottom three on defense went to:
Kindle Vildor-32.2
Duke Shelley-47.6
Tashaun Gipson-51.6
Akiem Hicks was the only other Bear outside of Nichols and the 90-club members to reach the 80s, posting an 80.5 grade. The Bears had no 90-Club members in Week 1.
With Andy Dalton out for the Browns game, Matt Nagy has named Justin Fields as the starting quarterback. At this moment, we are uncertain as to how long Dalton will be out. In his absence, Fields will get a chance to prove himself and maybe win the job altogether, despite Nagy's claims that Andy is still the starter when healthy.
Fields completed 6-13 passes last week for 60 yards and a pick. He ran 10 times for 31 yards as well.
The day has finally come. With all of the bad talk about the Bears over the past couple of days, we finally get some good news as the Bears purchased the Arlington Heights Horse Racecourse overnight. The fanbase seems conflicted on this, and I will have an article with my opinion coming later today. Now, even if we were to build a new stadium, we cannot leave until 2026, where we would have to pay $84 million to break our lease. This could also be a negotiation tactic to force the city of Chicago to give us more money. It will be interesting to see what we do and what path ownership takes.
The Bears made a big move today, sending a 6th round pick from 2023 to the Dolphins in exchange for WR/PR Jakeem Grant. Punt Returner was a weakness in our team, as Nsimba Webster was not performing or really even catching punts. Speaking of Webster, we waived him in a corresponding move, along with Practice Squad LB Rashad Smith. Grant could be a sneaky good pickup, as he adds to this Legion of Zoom with even more speed. We can utilize him at Wide Receiver as well. Plus it only cost a sixth rounder from two years down the line. Now, this could mean Cohen is even further than originally thought from returning from his Torn ACL. Speaking of running backs, David Montgomery will miss 4-5 weeks with a hyperextended knee. This is a huge blow, as Monty has been one of the best running backs in the league up to this point. However, it is better than the ACL injury we thought might've happened. We also brought back Artavis Pierce in a corresponding move to the injury. However, expect the majority of snaps to go to Damien Williams, and don't be surprised if Khalil Herbert gets more snaps at back as well.
Matt Nagy announced Justin Fields as the starter moving forward today. Originally, it would've been Dalton because he is healthy. But Nagy made the call to move to the young QB after his great performance against the Lions. Or was it Nagy's call? Many speculate that this could've been the call of Ryan Pace, maybe to try and save jobs. Whatever the case may be, Fields will not lose the starting job this season barring an injury. It is his team now. Fields QB1, Dalton QB2, Foles QB3. Andy Dalton seems to be taking this with class, as he has not complained about anything up to this point. Fields will make the start against the Raiders on Sunday, before heading back home for his first matchup against the Packers.
So, this rumor emerged yesterday, and I figured I should cover it. There are rumors now circulating through Bears talk about Nick Foles potentially starting against Green Bay. Now, this may not be as farfetched as this may seem. Fields likely will not be at 100% come Sunday. So he may be out. But what about Dalton. Many may point to his 4 picks as reason to bench him, however, there is another reason. Dalton may have injured his non-throwing hand against Arizona. The extent of the injury is something we do not know yet. If it is serious, Dalton could be out for the game on Sunday Night. This would prompt Nick Foles to slide into the starting QB spot and attempt to lead us to a victory. Now if Dalton’s injury is not serious he would be the starter. We are probably going to lose this game unless they have to start a guy like Kurt Benkert at QB1. Then we may have a chance. Otherwise, this will go down as another Bears loss to the Packers.
Nick Foles
The rumor that is as frequent as Bears QB targets last offseason finally may have reached the final stage. NFL Insider Ian Rapoport has stated that barring a complete 180 from George McCaskey, Matt Nagy will be gone next year. This has been rumored for a long time, with one report earlier in the year saying he was to be fired following the Lions Thanksgiving game (which was not true). But now, as the season closes, this is most likely the case, and the Bears will begin interviewing candidates following the conclusion of the season. Nagy has had a mediocre tenure, going 12-4 his first season but followed it with back to back 8-8 campaigns, and the Bears sit 5-10 currently and have been eliminated from postseason contention.

The Bears are locked in at 3rd in the NFC North. No matter what happens in the season finale against Minnesota, we will finish 3rd in the division. This means that we now know who we will play in the 2022-23 season. Obviously 6 games will be taken up by our division rivals (Green Bay, Minnesota, Detroit). Our NFC Division we play next year is the NFC East, so we will be playing Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington, and the New York Giants. We will actually be playing both New York teams, as we will be facing the AFC East as well (Miami, Buffalo, New York Jets, New England). If you're keeping track, that is 14 games. So the other three games are determined by how other teams finished in their divisions. Two of the three games come from the other 3rd place teams in the NFC, so that would be Atlanta and San Francisco. With the 17 game schedule, we need another team. So we go to the third place finisher of the AFC division we played two years prior to that season. Since we faced the AFC West in 2019, this year we played the Raiders. That means that we would face the third place finisher from the AFC South, as we played them in 2020. The third place finisher from the AFC South is the Houston Texans. As for whether we would play these teams at home or on the road, here's the breakdown of our schedule:
Home:
Packers
Lions
Vikings
Eagles
Washington (Name Will Be Revealed 2/2/2022)
Bills
Dolphins
49ers
Texans
Away:
Packers
Lions
Vikings
Giants
Cowboys
Patriots
Jets
Falcons
So as you can see, the schedule is not as difficult as this years. With a revamped coaching staff and an improved roster, I think the Bears could be playoff contenders in 2022.

The Bears have placed Quarterback Justin Fields on the Covid/Reserve List, which most likely knocks him out pf Sunday’s contest against the Minnesota Vikings.
Fields was on track to start after missing the last two games with an ankle injury. With him out, Andy Dalton will likely start to finish the season.
If Fields does not meet the requirements to test out by Sunday, he will finish his rookie season with 1,870 pass yards, 7 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 420 rush yards on 72 attempts, and going 159-270 for a 58.9% completion percentage.

The Ryan Pace era has now come full circle. You may ask why. Well it is because of Robbie Gould's game winning field goal against the Packers to knock them out of the playoffs. Now, what does this have to do with Ryan Pace? Well, Pace was the one that cut Robbie Gould after a mediocre 2015 season. If Pace doesn't cut him, everything is different. I may need to make a what if on this situation, because there is one game in particular from 2017 that would change the Bears franchise, a game from 2018 that you probably already can guess, and today's game. But Pace did cut him 6 years ago, which led Gould to wind up in San Fran after a year with the Giants. Gould has been with the Niners since 2017, and today everything came full circle. With childhood Bears fans Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle on the team, Gould drained the game winning field goal to knock the Packers out in the Divisional Round (Not the NFC Championship) and to very likely end Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, Za'Darius Smith, and more players careers in Green Bay. So yes, because of that one decision by Pace 6 years ago, we do not need to see Rodgers play another snap in a Packers uniform. King Pace does it again.
